Four Films Out Friday 6 November, and the Critics Actually Like All of Them

Rare news: four films open on the same Friday, 6 November 2026, and not one of them is rotten. The lowest Rotten Tomatoes score of the bunch is 86%. Here's your cheat sheet.

Wild Horse Nine: Martin McDonagh goes to Easter Island

Rotten Tomatoes 94% ยท Metacritic 77

Martin McDonagh (In Bruges, The Banshees of Inisherin) wrote and directed this black comedy spy thriller. The cast is John Malkovich, Sam Rockwell, Steve Buscemi, Tom Waits and Parker Posey, which is basically a bet on who can steal the most scenes.

The setup: shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup, CIA bureau chief MJ sends officers Chris and Lee from Santiago to Easter Island. Among the moai, the longtime partners wrestle with their dark pasts and present conspiracies. Then Chris's new friendship with a rebellious student threatens to send the whole trip sideways.

It premiered in competition at the 83rd Venice Film Festival on 3 September, where Malkovich won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor. Searchlight Pictures releases it in the UK and US on 6 November. It runs 117 minutes. Sam Rockwell turned 58 the day before, so call it a belated birthday outing.

I Play Rocky: how Rocky got made

Rotten Tomatoes 87% ยท Metacritic 63

Peter Farrelly (Green Book) directs this biopic, written by Peter Gamble, about the making of Rocky (1976). Anthony Ippolito plays a young, broke Sylvester Stallone. The cast also includes AnnaSophia Robb, Toby Kebbell, P. J. Byrne, Jay Duplass, Matt Dillon, Stephan James and Tracy Letts.

It premiered at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, where it was nominated for the People's Choice Award. Amazon MGM Studios opens it in a limited US release on 6 November, then nationwide on 20 November, the day after GTA VI. Bad luck for anyone who wanted the cinema to themselves. It runs 128 minutes.

Club Kid: a party promoter, a surprise son

Rotten Tomatoes 100% ยท Metacritic 85

Jordan Firstman wrote and directed this comedy-drama, his first feature as director, and also stars in it. He plays Peter, a washed-up underground party promoter who suddenly has to look after Arlo, the 10-year-old son he never knew he had. Cara Delevingne, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Colleen Camp, Vicki Pepperdine and Diego Calva co-star.

It premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes on 15 May, with nominations for the Camรฉra d'Or and the Queer Palm. A24 opens it in a limited US release on 6 November. It's the only one of the four with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, so the bar is set very high.

Being Heumann: the fight for disability rights

Rotten Tomatoes 86% ยท Metacritic 68

Sian Heder, the Oscar-winning writer and director of CODA, directs this biopic. Ruth Madeley plays disability rights activist Judith Heumann, and Mark Ruffalo plays US Health Secretary Joseph Califano, who opposed the movement she led. That movement won the first US federal civil rights protection for disabled people, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Dylan O'Brien, Rob Delaney and Ray Fisher also star. Heder and Rebekah Taussig adapted the script from Heumann's memoir.

It opened the Toronto International Film Festival on 10 September. It reaches US cinemas on 6 November and Apple TV on 13 November, so you can watch it from the sofa a week later.
