Barotrauma's Home & Harbor DLC Lands on December 2
What's New
The Barotrauma team has finally put a date on Barotrauma's next expansion: Home & Harbor arrives on 2 December 2026. A week before that, on 26 November, everyone gets the free Companion Update.
The DLC has two halves:
- Player-owned outposts. For the first time you can acquire, manage and defend an outpost of your own, and reap whatever it earns you.
- The Descendants. A new high-tech, high-minded faction with a story that sheds light on some of Europa's secrets. They need your help countering a threat.
The developers call the result "a moon-sized chunk of new content". Their blog has more detail, and the second episode of the making-of dev diary is out now.
What It Means for Players
Barotrauma has always been about surviving the trip. Now you get somewhere to come home to, which also means somewhere for things to break into. Expect the usual: you build a lovely outpost, someone forgets to close a hatch, and the whole crew learns a lot about water pressure.
The announcement doesn't list what's in the free Companion Update, so we'll cover that when the patch notes land.
The Closing Line
A home of your own at the bottom of an alien ocean. Even the mortgage can't reach you down there. The monsters can.
